Presence of the Holy Spirit

Anonymous asked this question on 6/10/2000:

Please Father, tomorrow we will celebrate Pentecost. I would like to know: how can I be sure that the Holy Ghost is with me?

Thank you

Greetings.

This is quite easy to answer.

It is not an emotion.

It is not a vision or something like that.

To know if the Holy Spirit has come you have to look at the outcome. Remember that Jesus once said that we may recongnize the essence of a reality by it's fruits.

Look at Galations chapter 5:

19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

As you can see, if you experience an increasing of the fruit of the Spirit then He has come!

May it be so

mscperu
